So I see these things and all I can think of is, in 2030, recreational versions on people at malls. Apparently, they are only for experimental use by infantrymen now. Very Inspector Gadget.
Recreational Grief?

This is an interesting item from the BBC: • “In his report, Conspicuous Compassion, author Patrick West said people were trying to feel better about themselves by taking part in "manufactured emotion". Describing extravagant public displays of grief for strangers as 'grief-lite' Mr West said …
Yuppie Flu

Days like these, when the caffeine does not seem to be pushing me up fully through the surface of consciousness, I think - maybe I have "the yuppie flu". Remember that? Well, I guess it turned out not to be just for yuppies. Not my generation anyway, as was noted in 1999: • “Baby boomers at risk …
Major Matt Mason

It reads "GAS THE MODERN FUEL" • I noticed this near the foot of Queen Street by Ontario, seen from behind S&R. It is pretty faded but a really nice font. The municipality has run natural gas distribution since the 1800s. This is near the old gas works site. Here is some info on city gas works …
What We Owe Arab Culture

The Guardian Unlimited has a great article on the legacy of Arab culture on the western world - little things like writing and science. It was written in response to a UK scandal involving a TV presenter who stated that we owe Arabs nothing.
Windiness

For some time, Rob1 and I have been yapping about developing wind power on PEI. PEI is both fortunate and unfortunate in God's selection of blessings, lacking for example the natural resources such as a forested hinterland and mining resources that other parts of Canada take for granted. As the …
