It had been 9 to 1 until the ninth. Sure, the Yankees were drastically weakened by injury but Shilling was as on his game as any time this season or last. Manny's starting a roll and two particular double plays that the Red Sox turned with great control and speed sent the message as well as anything coming from the mound. Then, when all was put to bed, in comes the ghost of relief pitching past.
I am getting very concerned everytime I see Keith Foulke come in. Bam: homer to A-Rod, that classic late in a loss diplay of A-Rod's power. Bam: another homer to Posada who is up next. Bam: Bernie gets a double that Harris can't reach in center - though Coco might have. People getting worried and not without reason. But in the end there is a pop-fly and it is all over. Foulke humilitated, the Yanks down 2.5 games and the reminder of the vengence of pride re-established. Nice to see Damon being so ineffective.

he's not lights out like he used to be. still has had some good outings though, even many more good than bad. he's been immensly valuable to this point.

I need some back up for that last sentence. He has been pretty bad by times but correct me. I like correction.

Wait, I thought FOulke had been shifted to set up man? What happened to the other guy that the RS had been using as a closer early in the season?

They don't put him in 9-1 leads in the ninth.

he needed work. you're overeacting. his outing before that (in phillie) he got three tough lefthanders out in row just like they asked him to. hey whaddya know - that's an example.
