
Of course it is good. Any competition which has only had two contestants in every championship game since 1990 is not a good competition. So it is good that Sweden has taken down one of those two giants. But Canada's team has already beaten Sweden 8-1 in this tourney, though not against the Swedish goalie Kim Martin who apparently stood on her head. I hope this is not the sign of a one team league. Nothing will kill off interest in women's hockey faster.

I heard an interview with Hayley Wickenheiser on CBC the other day praising the excellent Canadian development system that's produced this team. She's hoping more countries put more effort into developing women's hockey so that it can be become a truly international event. I agree wholeheartedly.
