So we did go with friends to Syracuse for a Dinosaur BBQ experience. I had the sweetheart special for two - a side of ribs, four sides and corn bread - with just me me because I get along so well I can't believe it. The place was hopping and a blast on a late Saturday afternoon. I picked up a long sleeve T that reeked of the smoke and hot sauce that makes the Dinosaur what it is. Suffice it to say it is worth the trip to Syracuse alone. It was also my first salt potatoes experience - new potatoes boiled in salt water so salty it will not take any more salt. This dries out the insides a bit and leaves a slight salty crustiness on the skins. Dandy.
The staff are great, the location is good, the prices are good, the other customers are good ranging from bikers to SU alumni licking woulds after a drubbing by Rutgers. A big noisy party of all sorts. The ribs are a different form of excellent take from Ralph's in Ithaca - I don't think I could possible eat a whole side from Ralph's given the generosity of the full cut of ribs they use. Maybe the Dinosaur is a smokier take, maybe its the bar room atmosphere and the microbrew. Both are most worthy.
Afterwards we walked the mile or so back to the hotel through Clinton Square and its Batman-esque architecture, through somewhat abandoned industrial and commercial lands, under the I-81 and back to the view seen at the very top above.
In the morning, after Clark's and the Blue Tusk the night before, we went to Mama Nancy's for steak and eggs which by accident of accent was taken as "stinky eggs". A great spot.

Nice pictures! I see you like taking pictures of our beloved Syracuse Savings Bank in all its fat, pointy yellowness. Back in the 40s they used to make little miniature piggy banks shaped like the building.

It is a beauty. The road travelled past it an on under the I-81...not so nice. But I really liked that Monroe sign.

I saw this image below at NYCO's blog and thought of the picture in the lower left above from a year and a half ago:
