I heard someone the other day say that at least if the kids are in school they're learning about the day, whereas if they were home it would just be another day off. Myself, I've called in sick to attend the service at the cenotaph.

We are in for a sort of half-staffed day and I will go to the cenotaph.

I was shocked, to be honest, when I moved here and discovered that it wasn't a stat. I used to go over to my grandparents' place and go with them to a community memorial, but it's true that it used to be just a free day off for me when I was in highschool, so maybe it is better that the younger generation is in a position to be taught about rememberance, however...

We went to all three of the downtown ceremonies though we sort of missed the main bit of each. There seems to be a small navy one, a 2 RCR one in City Park and the main City one near the Martello across from the Kingston General. A good turnout at each.
