Pool 2005 - The Rules Unabridged

Since 1997 and for the ninth year in a row on the information superhighway...

The Rules

A. US College Basketball - CBS Sports should provide all you need.

1. Name the final four teams in the mens NCAA championship. 5 points for each correct pick.
2. Ten points for the NCAA mens basketball champion.
3. Darkhorse - pick the lowest seeded team to make it to the Sweet 16. 25 points. Ties determined by best record for year by percent wins over losses. If still a tie, according to the tallest guy on the team...or the coolest lid according to my sole discretion.

B. Hockey - check TSN.ca for helpful household hints.

4. Name the winner of the Memorial Cup, Canada's Jr A Men's hockey championship. 10 points.
5. Pick four scorers in the Memorial Cup. One point for each goal or assist.
6. Pick the winner of the AHL's Calder Cup. Ten points.

C. Fitba - try BBC Sports for information.

7. Pick the two teams in the English FA Cup Final. Five points each.
8. Pick the winner of the FA Cup. 10 points.
9. Pick the three teams relegated from the EPL and the three promoted to the EPL. Five points each. 10. Pick the winner of the Scottish Premier League - not a Cup, #1 in the league table. [Ed.: Hint - it will likely rhyme with "Brangers" or "Beltic".] Ten points.

D. Baseball - Try the home web sites for Boston and the Yankees.

11. Who wins when the Red Sox and Yankees play on 11 April 2005? Ten points.
12. Who wins when the Red Sox and Yankees play on 13 April 2005? Ten points.
13. Who starts as pitcher for each team when the Red Sox and Yankees play on 14 April 2005? Ten points for each correct pick.

E. Golf - Go find your own golf web site.

14. Who wins the Masters? 20 points.
15. Does Mike Weir make it into the top 5 at the Masters? Ten points.

F. Snooker - BBC Sport has it.

16. Who wins the World Championship at the Crucible? Ten points.

G. Cricket - again, ask Auntie Beeb

17.Who wins the Third Test between Indian and Pakistan at Bangalore? Twenty points.

I think that is it. Many points to be had from a whack of sports. Who needs the N.H. stinkin' L? Get your picks in before Friday, 18 March at 5 pm or so. But not as early as Hans because he still has to do more picks.

Wouldn't want fans to think that the teams in the 4th league are in the 3rd Division so we'll call it League 2.

In the Beltic vs Brangers points question, they play each other on Sunday (last game of the season, I believe). Rangers are up by two points, so they can tie and take the League title. Celtic must win if they're going to take it and give me some points.

Celtic just got by Aberdeen this week, after being down 2-0 after the first 15 minutes.
