It was such a perfect late afternoon over at Sackets Harbor I figured I'd make a gallery. Hopefully dial-up users will be patient though I did reduce the size of the thumbnails.
The forts and harbour at Sackets were the base for one-third of the US army and one-half of the US navy around 1812 but, like Oswego farther south and Ogdensburg east-north-east down-river, was the scene of a defeat from the British forces at Kingston, now just an hour's drive south or a half hour's speed boat around the western end of Wolfe and Simcoe Islands.

What? In Sackets Harbor and you didn't buy any Funny Cide crap? (er, I mean souvenirs. Although I'm sure at one time they did sell his actual crap.)
