Once again, here are the rules:
- Electoral College overall: 50 points for being spot on, one point lost for every electoral college vote off +/- for the winner. No points for being 50 or over off score.
- President: 30 points for naming the winner.
- Key States: 10 points for picking the winner in the following states correctly - Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maine, Missouri, Colorado.
- Senate: 20 points for for being spot on, four points lost for every senate seat off +/- for the final count of the majority.
- Wild card: Pick your own non-Federal race at any level down to local district attorney for an incumbant to lose. 20 points if you picked right.

I have absolutely no idea how this works so please go easy on me!
Electoral College - 273 Kerry / 265 Bush
President - Kerry
Key States - Kerry (Maine, Ohio, Colorado, Pennsylvania) Bush (Florida, Missouri)
Senate - 52 Democrats, 47 Republicans, 1 Independant
Wild Card - I'm supposed to pick the loser or the winner? Am I allowed to select the Utah's Attorney General race? If so, I pick Mark Shurtleff as the winner
Please email me Alan if I did this wrong, especially the Wild Card pick, I hate looking like a dork! :)
David - November 1, 2004 7:40 am
Prez: Bush
Electoral College: 311 Bush
Senate: 53 R, 46 D, 1 I
Bush Key States: Fla, Hawaii
Alan - November 1, 2004 8:38 am
Wild card?
David - November 1, 2004 12:42 pm
Wild card: the press _doesn't_ say they're surprised by the outcome.
Or does this count as a WC?
Alan - November 1, 2004 12:49 pm
Think Rhode Island. Think dog catcher.
Wayne - November 1, 2004 4:08 pm
Something is wrong with the Senate number totals in either your picks, or most others...you have 48-50 and 1. Everybody else adds up to 100. Or, am I seeing crooked after 10 hours of staring at a blinking curser.
David - November 1, 2004 4:39 pm
I'll sit out the wild card then -- I've been studiosly avoiding the news for the last 8 weeks or so. Or I'll take Wayne's pick, to randomly choose.
Wayne - November 2, 2004 3:22 pm
Last minute appeal. (The lawyers come next!!!)
Rule #4
<i>"Senate: 20 points for for being spot on, four points lost for every senate seat off +/- for the final count of the majority."</i>
Your numbers are lower then ours(99-you, 100-us), thus you can be only wrong 99 times, while the rest of us can be wrong 100 times. What gives? Leave it to me to start a ka-fluffle, eh?
ALan - November 2, 2004 3:46 pm
You are right. If you need that victory that you can count to 100 and I can't, you win. Wayne wins the count to one hundred prize. Yea, Wayne. Wayne wins, Wayne wins!!!<p><small><i>(#$*&#(*@&%'ing Wayne...</i></small>
Wayne - November 2, 2004 4:45 pm
And, the prize is...?
Wayne - November 2, 2004 4:56 pm
Jeez...I finally won an argument. This IS a red banner day!(Wonder where that saying comes from - I have not used it much, and wonder why it came to mind!)
John of Argghhh! - November 2, 2004 6:54 pm
Alan - thanks for the invite, but with my now famous 'tin ear' I'll just watch some TV, read some scifi, call it a night and hope that Bush wins.
Otherwise, I have to start writing checks to people to keep Kerry's hands off the stuff in the basement.
And I have to spend it before he starts taking it, too.
I'll piggy off the Flea. My wild card? Thune beats Daschle.
Alan - November 2, 2004 7:25 pm
You snooze well, John. If it weren't for great-grand-dad, you'd definitely be my favorite ex-Sgt. Major, Republican, gun collector. Well, he seemed to gathered daughters (at well into the double digits) rather than firearms and was probably a believer in the Em-py-yah rather than the Republic but you get the drift. You know, he was born in the USA, as well. Part of the ping-pong of the family back and forth over the Atlantic over the centuries.
Alan - November 2, 2004 10:43 pm
Valesky May Win!!!
Alan - November 3, 2004 7:40 am
As we operate under the electoral rules of the great state of Ohio - certainly the best flag of any state - results will not be known for days. Of note is my wild card race of which NYCO states this morning:<blockquote class="smalltext">he Valesky-Hoffmann contest won't be settled until all absentee ballots are counted in four different counties, and that will take over a week. The Senate Democrats are calling a press conference today to talk up Valesky's showing (perhaps, win) and their plans for reform. Meanwhile, Tom Suozzi had a less successful night.</blockquote>

A little help...my wildcard results(From <a href="http://www.spokesmanreview.com/elections/2004/results/general.asp" target="blank">Spokesman Review</a>)
State Auditor
Brian Sonntag (D): 63.00% (1080357)
<b>Will Baker (R)</b>: 33.44% (573444)
Jason G. Bush (L): 3.557% (61003)
Statewide precincts reporting: 99%
That David fellow is pretty sharp...
Alan - November 3, 2004 1:25 pm
But the incumbant was Sonntag and you pikced Baker to beat him. You and David get no points.
Wayne - November 3, 2004 2:27 pm
I know...but don't rain on my parade! :)
