Saddish jetsicle (propsicle?) news from the Flea:
I have finally got myself sorted with a digital camera only to discover the Lancaster on a stick has been moved! I noticed it was missing but thought I must have been looking at the wrong part of the park. [See the restoration site at] http://www.lancasterfm104.com/.I recall that Lanc in the park where we played when we were Mississauga sub-urb kids. Good that it is being restored - sad that it is off the stick perhaps never to return. The lovely and well framed photo above is from the website for the Lancaster's restoration.¹So, that is one less image for the jetsicle collection but good news for aviation history buffs.
Anyway - the real lesson here is that we are in a race against time and against the restorers, folks! Canada's jetsicle heritage is being destroyed by the protectors of Canada's aviation heritage!! They can't be stopped as, frankly, they are doing the right thing...but we must get out there and record the somewhat stunned efforts of past celebrators of our national airplane heritage before it is lost forever to the future celebrators of our national airplane heritage!!!²

¹[Ed:...and I especially thank Mike MacAllister for his forebearance in bringing action under the Copyright Act for this reproduction of his picture especially as my words "lovely" and "well balanced" constitute my brief but supportive review under section 29.1 of the Act.]²[Ed.: Please note the increasing use of exclamation marks in this paragraph. I don't think we here at GX40HQ can be more forceful in our use of font and punctuation in this matter.]

I'll have to remember to get you a pic of the jet-on-a-stick at the front gate of the Naval Air Station at the airshow this fall. I suspect the current one is a full-scale fiberglass model, rather than a real jet, but I haven't gotten close enough to look. If it's real, then the cockpit's been painted over. Main reason I suspect it's a model is we haven't retired all that many F/A-18s yet. I should also find out where they moved the old F-11-F Tiger that had previously guarded that spot. I know it's at one of the minor local airports... They also have a couple of other jets mounted on pads instead of plinths. An A-7E Corsair II & an A-10A Thunderbolt II still in the Euro Green cammo paintjob. The A-7A sports an early 1980s high-visibility marking scheme (lt grey w/ full color markings), and the F/A-18 & F-11-F are done up in Blue Angels colors.

The Flea shares the news that there is another Lanc on a stick down Windsor way.

Should have come with a keyboard alert.
Are non-Canadian prop/jetsicles acceptable? If so, I will happily start collecting hereunder.

We are a worldwide movement. We are working on an alert system whereby keyboards globally will give off a small electric shock whenever a post or reply is created under the jetsicle banner. We are working with the same team that invented pop tarts so confidence is high.
