French Festival Parade

No one does a parade like Americans. Cape Vincent NY, where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence, may have 500 residents and last Saturday there must have been 5000 there to celebrate the French Festival. They were four rows deep in front of Aubrey's Store. It was a little weird as Napoleon really did lead the parade - he's the guy in the black hat - and the five Miss French Festival alternates were stalked by a massive pigeon of peace eating the US and French flags. Dunno what that was all about. Here is the short short film fest:

I didn't bother taking pics of the six or seven Canadian pipe bands or the corporate floats/pick-ups or every fire, rescue or police vehicle in two or three counties. The big shriner fez died right in front of us and had to get wheeled into a driveway. Best of all, Cape Vincent has no "open container law" as well as 25 foot mown lawn verges between the sidewalk and the parade route street where a fella could lay on the grass next to the stroller, have the double can bought at the corner store and watch it all go by from a shady spot .

thank you for visiting our town, the french festival is one of my favorite times of the year although there is no open container law 100% of the year.

the town is starting to wake up out of the winter time blues and things are starting to happen! we are about a month away from the 39th anual French festival and would be honored if you would come back and do another story now that there is more going on. a new coffee shop/interior design shop is located next to the methodist church on Broadway st., it's called "taste of design"
