It is a good idea to have a Monday off in February. I would trade one in August anytime. First, there is just the fact that it is an opportunity to snooze. Second, it is a well-placed opportunity to snooze coming after a conventional length weekend not to mention one in February when you feel like snoozing anyway. Third, I was not required to dress up for work all day. Fourth...do I need a fourth? So lobby your boss to at least trade the August long weekend for one in February.

'Course, here on PEI, we don't get a day off in August, so there's nothing to barter with. Yes, some in Charlottetown get a half-day off because of 'the parade', some maybe even a full day, but there's no official day off in August on the Island.
