On the Mars NASA landing, I am listening to this along with other instant messangers at 11:05 EST and there seems to be 5 degrees to high an entry, a 20 minute wobble and an inability to cool. Then NASA cut from live updates from each part of the mission control to canned interviews and simulations.
What I like about this corner is that it is a Law and Jays-free zone. Pitchers and catchers report shortly, and the Mets may be making interesting moves on the mound. A young dude I saw pitch at the Binghamton Mets last summer--and he could smoke em, and GM Minaya was there that night watching--named Humber may have a shot at a full season, or kept back and fresh until later in the season. It is most important to have talent on the big team, and plenty of strong young guys ready in the farm system ready to go. It is terribly cold here lately, my thoughts go easily to Florida and the palm trees and ringing bats.
I know, but nobody has posted here yet about the law or Jays. So, the Mets signed Park and the 18 wheelers soon head south full of bats and balls, and later this week, spring training begins.
There was just a hawk at the birdfeeder. Neato. We are having lake effect snow this afternoon and the area is full of ducks looking for food. Probably followed them into the area.
Query: What in the world is Elvis Costello's song 'Oliver's Army' about? I just don't have the cultural references, I think. I simply can't make heads or tails of it other than it is, in general, and anti-war and anti-military song. Am I missing something here. And damn that ex-girldfriend for leaving me her cds.
Isn't it about mercenaries in South Africa so not really anti-military but anti-freelance-support-of-dictatorships. See also the headless Thompson Gunner song by Warren Zevon.
Did an hour this morning on the stationary bike; thank god for F1. Running too, though I screwed up my leg in late January and haven't tried to get my pace back.
After noticing the description of your blog states: "Alan is apparently a Gen X-er who has hit 40...41...42...43...44." simple deduction places your birthdate in AD 1963. This would put you in the baby boomer cohort (generally accepted to be from 1946 to 1964), not Gen X.
So, did I get plonked in a recent purge, or was it something specific I said? Am I now, through the time-tested traditions of the web, forced to delist you, too? ;-)
Ah, yes. I had to resort to a backup site for a few days, while my virtual landlord battened down the hatches. I tried to send word, but I forgot you weren't on the RE mailing list any more. My bad. My apple-logies.
Have you seen this video yet? It’s so bizarre and I’m not sure if it’s legit. I know this is up your alley…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtc1MG9bDrg
Ack. We needs a fun topic, Al. Writing 4 page essay length stuff for John and his commentors is killing me. How about we start a pool for the MLB playoffs. It's almost Oct after all. SOmething like March madness would suffice I think. It's smaller and easier than that, but could still be fun.
Sorry to spam your blog this way.... I just needed to contact you...

Shot put 2007: Day one, 21 May 2007 - 16 lbs, 22 feet or 6.7 metres. Day two: hit 21 feet twice. Herself at 8 got 16 feet with the 2 kg shot. Day three: hit 22 feet three times. Day four, 16 July: 22.5, 23.5 and 24 feet. 24 is 7.32 metres. Day five, 13 August: a bunch of 22 footers and a 24.5 - best yet. Compadre started hoisting them 32 feet but he is a pup at 35. Day six, 20 August: a bunch of 22 and 23 footers and a 24. I am now sneeking in the low end of provincial championship results for men under retirement age while having no style at all. Someday, I could be on Throwers Club.

Shadow Cabinet Posts
From Jan to March 2006, I tried a group humour blog with others on the subject of Canadian politics. It did not last but the posts were worth keeping. #16 was banned. There were no comments. It was at www.shadowcabinet.ca. »
