I have a few superstitions about this blog. Back when I could actually post the time of each piece, I always made sure it was an odd number of minutes in the hour. I have no idea why. I post in the morning, too. Once I posted almost four times a day when it seemed to matter. But recently I have not. I blame subject matter. Canadian politics is has become more intensely boring than it has been over the last ten years. Jaffer-Guergis? Who cares? Even if they do seem to have gotten into some odd places. And, frankly, I am incredibly out of touch with things cultural. Lady Gaga? Maybe it's a badge of honour, a victory of some sort that while I like the tunes well enough I know she's just another blip on the time line.
It's hard to have a conversation about good times. Economically, Canada is an ox. Politically, it's stable. Culturally, it's bland. Good times. Plus, as has been noted, blogging died well over two years ago and no one noticed even if some yapped about it a bit. I used to care. Like in 2005. When I had about 10,000 times the traffic. Did micro-blogging kill it - like Facebook or Twitter? That ain't blogging. Blogging is more desperate than that. It pretended it was going to make you something. Like Twitter is going to make anyone anything. Tweeting a picture of your steak on your BBQ is nothing like blogging a picture of your steak on your BBQ. Beer blogging still is great with almost daily 7,000 Google readers, 580 or so twit-based follower and a hardy 400 to 600 of old schoolers still checking in directly. Conclusion? Beer is interesting. The rest of human existence? Not so much.
And yet I feel like writing so I will do some evening posts as well as mornings to mix it up. Maybe. Maybe I won't.
