Remember when you had that big party, spent far too much on the booze you gave to your friends, put out far too many types of corn chips and pretzels? Remember the feeling a few days later when you couldn't believe you blew a month's rent and now had nothing to show for it? Well, apparently the Vancouver Olympics are just like that except no one was a guest and everyone paid:
VANOC is offering counselling to employees as they head out the door, after months, sometimes years, of being in the spotlight, working for an event that captures the attention of the world. The organization has also set up a Facebook site to allow former employees to stay connected, to ease their transition to an uncertain future... A similar mood prevailed on the suddenly quiet and relatively empty streets of Vancouver. There was a feeling that something grand had passed and would never be back. Seventeen joyous days of virtually non-stop celebrating were over, and it was back to the daily grind. Linda Parke, still wearing her red Olympic mittens, said she noticed the change on the bus coming to work. “During the Olympics, everyone talked to each other. This morning, nobody was talking. It's kind of a letdown. You feel blue.”
Remember way back like back on Saturday night when everyone from jacked up CTV hosts to politicians with an interest in making unfounded grand statements were saying that everything has changed? Just yesterday newspapers could actually publish silly headlines like "Patriotic Fervour Shifts to Reviving the Economy" - imagine! Those were the days.
The axe is coming. You were distracted for a while there and thought it didn't matter. Be prepared to look out the window by the weekend and ask yourself where it all went.

Three cheers for the axe!
We've heard a year of complaining about the deficit, and Tory over-spending. Okay, that's fine -- I actually agree wholeheartedly with that critique. So let's get rid of it.
Bring on the axe!

Bring on the axe indeed. I suspect there's little chance of seeing it though.
What's CTV going to do now, now that's there's no olympics. Do the have shows or something on that channel?
