Re the November election -- that's been the lefty prediction all along -- "No, this is an anti-incumbent election. Not anti-Democrat!" We'll see how GOP incumbents do, and judge accordingly.

But it's still too early to tell -- I trust my guys to screw up the campaign. They are, after all, the Stupid Party.

The NY-23rd sure is shaping up to be an ugly conservative eating conservative event.

Ben (The Tiger) -

Tough primary, eh?

Well, that's why primaries are a good thing. Gets the fight out of the way beforehand. If you don't have them, then you end up with what happened in NY-23 last fall.

Alan -

I think it will be Hoffman losing in the primary and then a split conservative / tea party ticket sucking the life out of the GOP or getting the thrashing it deserves but Owens benefiting ultimately. You should join the race as a GOP grunt and I will come over to watch the results with the Dems and we can compare notes.

Ben (The Tiger) -

I may, though school will take precedence.

Tho` the race I really, really, really want to win is the PA senate seat for Pat Toomey -- someone I agree with wholeheartedly and actually do not have to wince at.

If Hoffman loses in the primary, though, I hope that people will convince him to drop out. Ticket-splitting was justified when the nominee was chosen in backrooms by an incompetent state leadership. When you lose a primary, you should accept the verdict of your party.

But maybe I will. I like the North Country a lot.

Half thinking of getting a Kingston job and simultaneously owning a shack on the American side for alcohol, firearms, and a Slingbox.

Alan -

I have been eyeing US cottage property over there for years. Half the price. Better BBQ.

Off topic, but.... Ben are you going back to school? Where? What are you taking? Having read your blog for a little while and followed the peregrinations of the The Tiger I'm curious about the next step. Sorry for getting personal here, Alan, but its almost like I know you guys....

Alan -

I understand it is U o'T law, Hans. Just what the world needs. Another blogger with a law degree!

Ben (The Tiger) -

That's it, yes.

Well, originally I picked my name b/c I was both a Princeton Tiger and a Dalhousie Tiger.

May have to beg Alan's forgiveness for dissing his legal alma mater and ask for help in achieving my dream of a dual Canadian/American life in the Thousand Islands...

Legal career near Kingston, home in Canada, nearby shack in USA with meat, booze, firearms, and a Slingbox. That's as close to heaven as I can hope for on God's green earth.

Beats the heck out of living across from Houlton, Maine!

Ben (The Tiger) -

I like the North Country, and I'm an Upper Canadian at heart.

Though New York State is bad about trying to take one's tax dollars for having a presence. (Or maybe they just have a vendetta against Rush. Hope it's just that.)

Anyway. Crown attorney near Kingston. I think that may be the dream. Or idiosyncratic defense attorney.

Alan -

Those are reasonable goals. It is a fun area if you ever want to get into sailing as well.

Hans -

Alan, I would have to agree Kingston has it all over Nackawic....

Good Luck Ben!

It'll be strange going to law school closer to home than my high school was...
