Apparently, the angering of Thor is now proof that the internet does not work: "We shouldn’t have to rely on Twitter for the sort of information that could come directly and immediately from the sources themselves." But don't "the sources" have actual work to do other than informing all people all the time about all things being done - or would be done if they weren't spending all their time informing people.
Isn't the real problem that there is a volcanic eruption actually affecting a huge part of the technologically advanced world and there is nothing all the powers of Twitter can do about it?

That's not an internet failure. That's a failure of transportation companies, airports, and news agencies -- failure which should be expected (and is normal) under the stress of a volcanic eruption.
