No baseball and no elections. It is that time of the year when you have to make do and you have to make do with a toque on your head. I don't know if I am ready. It got so long for summer to get going. Now we wait for our winter of discontent. I have to put away the garden hose and bring out the snow shovel. I will eat stew.
- NCPR is breaking out some pretty impressive regional political blogging these days. Membership driven news may well be the future.
- Hats off to the Yankees. They have become almost likable. Thank God for A.J. Burnett to cap that off nicely. There was less of the sneer this year and their efforts seem to relate to honest effort more than bankroll. And they have to win once in a while if one is to have a proper hate for them on. But is this the swan song?
- I have a cat. I still don't care.
- I just figured out the most annoying thing about my laptop. If you hit control and "FN" next to it, the keyboard goes Spanish and back again. I almost cried there for a second.
- Our politicians are better scientists than scientists. Excellent.
- Over 70,000 plus room and board to be a butler. Jeeves was not a butler, you know. He was a gentleman's gentleman.
I am already late. Things are moving even as the world dips into a comfortable winter's sleep. If I could I would take every Wednesday off as it practically makes every second workday a Friday.

The Yanks should be pretty powerful next year with Roy Halladay added the rotation. I bet the Phillies wish they'd pulled the trigger on that trade now.

Also, sweet jesus is Halladay a monster. From 2002-08 with the Jays of all teams his numbers are insane: .698 winning percentage, 113 wins, 9 shutouts, 37 complete games, and 7.14 innings per start.
Imagine what his numbers will be like on a good team.

Halladay will be fought for by the Red Sox, too. Not a done deal.
