I would end up being a nightmare boyfriend for such a woman.
"No, we are not going dancing tonight. I'm going to watch the news, and you're going to turn into a hawk and sit in the tree on the boulevard all night, until you kill the raccoon that keeps emptying the green bin all over the lawn."
"Those starlings have been waking me up at 0430 for the past week. Deal with them."
Her lament to her girlfriends would be "He's only interested in me for my body—mainly the ability to turn into animals and destroy neighbourhood pests."
Ahh... Alan, you have kindled a desire to go to Classic and rent season 1.
Oh how I loved this show, and how I loved Maiya or however her name was spelled.. til she turned into aforementioned buggy eyed creature with the relish like ooze. And Joesph Campanella of the "what will they think of next " fame.. sigh.. I feel old now.
I had such a spectacular metal scale toy of an eagle that I kept fo many years. Where is it now I wonder.. This is why eBay make so much money in collateral fees.
Somewhere I have an Eagle model. I managed to find my Viper and Cylon raider (now proudly up with the family photos in my office). Ah good times. My favorite Maya episode is the one where these aliens fooled humans into thinking they were human and were going to rescue them or whatever, but she saw them as ugly spagetti monsters.
This is when I wish the internet was better and had old TV schedules. I am thinking that this was on around Saturday on CBC but I have no idea whether that is true.
This show, Buck Rogers (Bee-dee, bee-dee, bee-dee), and Battlestar Galactica pretty defined bad late 70s/early 80s TV sci-fi. All inspired by Star Wars. Man, that intro for Space 1999 is something to behold!
Alan is apparently a Gen X-er who has hit 40... 41... 42... 43... 44... err... 45!... yikes...46!!! Holy Moly - 47. NIX THAT!!! Moley Most Holy... now 48....ummm... 49.
Pick any day's tunes as heard on CBC Ottawa's All in a Day hosted by my personal emailing buddy, Brent Bambury. You won't find a better music selection on radio anywhere - certainly not on the deeply dowdy CBC.
From Jan to March 2006, I tried a group humour blog with others on the subject of Canadian politics. It did not last but the posts were worth keeping. #16 was banned. There were no comments. It was at www.shadowcabinet.ca.

Where is the woman with the enormous eyebrows and widow's peak?
Alan - March 7, 2009 8:15 AM
I dimly recall that character, an alien, was added in later years.

Wouldn't Maya have been the perfect girlfriend, turning into a space monster if anyone bothered you at a pub or something?

I've had an inclination to pick up the 17 DVD megaset, but deep down I know it probably really sucks.

It must be true because we only got CBC and I only ever watched TV on saturday mornings and evening (HNIC) and sunday evenings (waltons).

FYI - Walter Koenig is back. He plays an excellent municipal ancient in "City of Ember".
Seanie - March 9, 2009 11:56 AM
I am thinking Saturdays at 7:00 pm.

Space 1999 predates Star Wars by two years. I think that it was much more influenced by the beginning of 2001: A Space Odyssey plus star trek.
