I think that's right. The question facing Iggy is not "do I support the budget" it is "how big a faux fuss do I make"

Just read that Iggy is going to ask for periodic status updates on the economy and how the budget/stimulus is working. Seems reasonable and very grown up. Unlike the NDP response.

No, a reasonable response would be calling Harper's bluff on all of the hidden con-bombs in the budget like "matching" infrastructure funding only and tax cuts. Iggy had the opportunity to actually amend the budget in a meaningful way. Oh, well.

All in all, we do not need instability. The economy isn't all that terrible and if anything some roads will get fixed. Yes, we will be facing an insanely high deficit (thanks to the Steve and Jim Show for screwing up all that for us over that past few years) however all in all, we have them where we want them. Forcing an election right now would drag the markets down and a coalition, though appealing a short while ago, is not now that we have a decent leader in place.
