I got an email about this. A mass email but still an email. Our pal Jay is moving to the Grits. I can't say I have had my suspicions that he would go this way as I usually think disgruntled Tories would move to a solution farther to the right. Jay explains:
As regular readers will already know, I have never had much time for Harper. But his cravenness in the face of the recession, his government’s ineptitude in protecting Canadian citizens abroad, his utter unwillingness to put a stop to the censors at the CHRC and his all round dweebiness leave me entirely unimpressed. Were he a dweeb of principle I might stick with the CPC; but he isn’t. He’s just slithering, hoping that the polls will pop another four points.
I, too, am disappointed in our national leader and pretty much for the same reasons. I mean if you are going to be conservative try being, you know, conservative and not (oh hear me gods of pithy mockery) conswervatives. See, the neatest Tory bloggers call the other side lie-berals so I made up conswervative. It's like the day that Zorro first picked up the sword.
Anyway, I want to like Iggy enough to go Grit. But isn't he as wishy-washy as the current office holder? I'd say the NDP have been adrift, too, but has there been any backbone in Canadian Federal politics since Chuck Cadman? Oh, for the days of Jean and Preston, of Ed, Pierre and Brian, too. Perhaps Iggy can take us all to that better place. Perhaps Jay is right finding one person he can rely upon and helping him achieve. Good for Jay taking a stand.

I did try commenting about it at Jay's site but apparently my comments don't make Jay's 'sniff' test...

Perhaps it is you after all! ;-)
No, fear not - Jay has always had issues with his commenting script which I do believe he made himself. It is really more like the model radio controlled airplane that never quite takes off on a Saturday morning as small children watch disappointedly so much as an ideological statement.

Jay's just really, really slow at approving comments.
It's his way.

I am more than happy to welcome a fellow small c Liberal into the fold. I used to admire the PCs like an old time nemesis that you could at the end of the day savour a pint with and agree to disagree with, but Harper et al are fire and brimstone dweebs.
