Tomorrow is a day off for me and I have a project. Right now I seem to have a few on the go: the vintage base ball, another beer symposium and bring a good NCPR listener, for example. And a bunch of other stuff. The books I haven't written nag at me. That all-tuba marching band that I am working on in Maine is another but that is really on the back burner on low heat. But careful readers will have noticed that I have remarked on North Country Public Radio for yoinks. We give 20 bucks a month and it's on all the time - home, internet, in the car and at work - as we are lucky enough to be able to get it over the air are here. We also get WRVO out of Oswego in Kingston as well as all classical WCNY from Utica / Syracuse but the community that is both expressed and maybe even created through the little station from Canton NY, to Kingston's east and a little to our north, that gets most of my attention.
It's been two and a half years since I have taken the time to answer phones... even though I didn't really answer any phones last time. I really just sat around with Joel, above, and had a chin wag. Times has changed a bit since that fund raising drive. NCPR is on Twitter and Facebook this year. Someone even set up a "fans of..." Facebook group. That is swell but it sure isn't going to replace radio diffusion anytime soon. So if you want to speak to me, phone the station between noon and 3 pm Friday and make a pledge... or just pledge online now.

Best wishes in this Alan - As the CBC slowly dies I keep thinking of our conversations about how Pub Radio could help. Here is my latest thinking - http://smartpei.typepad.com/robert_patersons_weblog/2009/03/what-next-for-the-cbc-what-next-for-us-what-about-public-radio-and-tv-on-the-border.html
