I don't know about you but leaning your arm on a baby's head is a bit thoughtless, even if you are wearing the "hey, I'm a guy just like you" sweater. Except I don't wear those sweaters...not since 1989 at least. That's why I think leaning on a baby's head is a bit thoughtless. And you know what Harper is saying? "Stop looking at the kid and talk right into the camera, Syd. You'll be great." That's what he's saying. Un. Be. Lievable.
In other news, I think it's great that Dion has waited through two years of abusive Tory slander to tell us the reason he talks a little oddly in English is due to a hearing problem. I'm fine with that. I trust him. It's a serious personal thing. But did he keep that in reserve for the campaign? I don't have an issue with whether he did or he didn't but his answer to this question is a little wonky:
"Asked why he only spoke up about the problem now, during an election campaign, Dion said he doesn't know why and said he shouldn't have."
Did he forget to not mention it? Did he forget not to mention he shouldn't have mentioned it? That makes leaning your arm on the head of a baby, you know, somewhat understandable, relatively speaking.
Other News for Day 3: What else is going on?
- The Greens are out of the debate and it's a tapestry!
- Report on costs of war being withheld pending free if not fully informed vote by this nation at war.
- Stephen "I am sweet and soft" Harper makes up with baby, 14-month-old Eric Huang.
- Stephan "I am rough and tough" Dion is actually rough and tough.
- Conservatives to erase one billlllllion dollllars in taxation revenue expanding their apparently planned return to deficit financing. Here come the '80s.
More later. Maybe.

I too think it unfortunate that the Green Party is being left out. But also love the quote about the Greens from your "tapestry" link above. Get this: "It's a petty bourgeois party whose appeal is more to small business and disaffected Tories than to socialists." Back in the 80s, I had a couple of professors who, having been educated in the USA in the 60s, might have used that kind of language, but apparently, the post was written in Canada in 2008, not pre-WWI England. I love ideology.

On Sunday on the Radio, I heard part of the press scrum at Rideau Hall after Harper dropped the writ. One of the questions was great. The journalist asked what it meant to be a family man, why Harper was portraying himself as a family man, why should voters care about a PM who is a family man and did Harper consider Dion to be or not to be a family man. It actually took him aback a bit before he got on his message track and avoided the question.

I think that someone should take up the helm as the leader of the official "apathetic masses" party of canada. Since the percentage of those who just don't bother to vote outweighs even the NDP and Greens combined, they could have a podium at the debate off to the side where all they do is heckle.
To Harper: "no one cares about your photo ops chubby!"
To Dion: "speak up Dilbert!"

While I am not very likely to vote for the greens I will now, without a doubt, boycott the televised debate.
Shame on the networks for their collective cave in.

I do not understand the various parties' stance on the Greens being in the debate.
Actually, strike that, I understand Layton & Duceppe's views. But I don't understand why Harper wants May out and Dion wants her in.
Have none of these people figured out the concept of vote-splitting?

I may be too ill to vote CPC (meaninglessly, in Toronto) if Harper keeps kissing babies. He should swat flies or something and make grring sounds.

Alan Mcleod must be seriously visually impared if he thinks this picture shows Harper leaning his arm on babies head.
It is perfectly clear to anyone with normal eyesight that his arm is totally resting on the back of the high chair with maybe the sweater barely touching the top back of the babies head.
I'm surprised that CBS would even stoop so low as to attempt passing along this kind of tripe as newsworthy journalism having any effect on the election
It does prove however, how out of touch with the people the lefty, mainstream media in Canada is. Shades of the USA which you so love to hate.

Dumbest comment of the campaign yet!
Though I will have a word with that bad Alan McLeod of CBS.
