...if Al has the tee on, then I won't wiff this one, too..."
I admit it - I am a Johnny come lately. I have listened to the home broadcaster for the Giants, WFAN, for fifteen years or more. I like how they call them the New York Football Giants like it's 1948. And the use of grey in the uniform is old style. They sort of play the role of White Sox to the Cubs compared to the lovable losers who are the Jets.
But they won in style - on the road and via a field goal after two muffed field goals. Everyone wanted the Packers to win, everyone wanted Favre in the Super Bowl one last time, everyone wants to be a cheesehead. Well you can't and he won't cause they didn't. Because I wore my Giant's t-shirt that I bought back when they sucked or at least were just 4-2. The shirt wasn't even on sale. I rock. As do field goals.

I was out of town yesterday and had to miss 3/4 of the Pats game (which I taped thankfully), but lo and behold, my old favorite "camping at Presquile Prov Park" radio station WHAM 1180 was b-casting the game. I don't think I have ever listened to football on the radio before and amazingly, it was good. I will do it again.

I was sort of cheering for the Pack, but once Tyne missed the last-second field goal, I was hoping the Giants would win so that he wouldn't have to commit hari-kiri or some such thing.

Tynes has come a long way from the his days with the CFL's Ottawa Renegades...or has he???
Hans - January 23, 2008 2:24 pm
Now I understand the Giants thing:
from the Ottawa Citizen:
A native of Greenock, Scotland, who grew up in Florida, Tynes came to the Renegades from the Scottish Claymores of the now defunct NFL Europe and was the closest thing to a sure bet the team had when he arrived here late in the 2002 season and during the 2003 campaign.
In 2003, he connected on 51 of 62 field goal attempts, including six in a game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and tied for the CFL scoring lead. He earned recognition as the league's all-star kicker.
Fans of the Renegades, who have witnessed Tynes's strong leg first-hand at Frank Clair Stadium, could hardly have been shocked when he was able to hit the long game-winning kick under the difficult conditions in Green Bay.
After he left the Renegades, Tynes spent three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs before joining the Giants this season."

Grrrrrrrrrreeeeenock! That is my Dad's town and home of the Morton.
I had no idea.

Its a long way from Greenock to the SuperBowl.....

If James Watt of Greenock thought that, we'd have had no industrial revolution!

Man, this sucks. Now I'm going to have to put up with 'Brady's the Greatest QB ever' baloney. This sucks. Only the Favre magic could stave off said travesty. Oh man, this is going to be hell.
Chit. Brady's only around because of the bad 'tuck rule' call against the Raiders(which the ref got wrong). Now they're talking about him like he invented football. Jeez. He is not better than Montana, and I'd take Randall Cunningham over him any day of the week.
have I mentioned this sucks, and, since you wore your G-men shirt, all your fault, Al? Now we'll have to put up with Maggie being a poor sportsman about the SB at The Castle. Thanks a lot, Al. ;)

You are missing the point. Brady loses the final game due to an uncanny combination of the hometown of the field goal kicker and my shirt. Don't you see? Tynes and I are both channeling the spirit of the 1922 Greenock Morton team, victors of the greatest league of its day. It's guaranteed. In the bag.
