I haven't gone to eBay looking for junk like my junk to add to my junk for some time now so it is interesting to see that there may actually be troubles over at the big money for nothing shop:
EBay Inc.'s incoming chief executive officer John Donahoe has wasted no time shaking up the online auction company, launching a series of fee changes and new selling standards designed to kick-start lacklustre growth and win back disgruntled customers. Mr. Donahoe, who is taking over the top spot at eBay after long-time CEO Meg Whitman announced her departure last week, acknowledged yesterday that the Web-based selling system needed a revamp after 12 years in existence.I suppose it was inevitable. There is only so much junk out there and only so many people who want it. Plus, as we have learned from Facebook and MySpace, people are wanting a lack of substance from their internet experience. Maybe, to borrow from The Goon Show, eBay should offer a photograph of the shoe rather than the show.

"here bass"
I used to buy and sell on ebay a lot, but in recent years I have become sick and tired, not of the charges ebay made when I sold, but on the sellers who gouge buyers with excessive shipping charges. Ebay makes no attempt to force buyers to stick to non-marked up rates, so a CD that sells for $1.00 after the action is over, costs $16 because the seller sets an insane flat rate shipping charge that includes "handling and shipping materials".. ugh. At least used books and dvds on Amazon, Alibris and other such sites have reasonable flat rates.
