First, I have to admit that the situation is no unlike that song by the Smiths, "Girlfriend in a Coma", in which I always took (perhaps wrongly) a guy who has just started dating a girl, kinda likes her but that's it, faces the fact that she is in a coma after an accident and is sort of a jerk. I am not a long standing Giants fan. But, to be fair to me, I am a short standing Giants fan. I have listened to their home radio station for years - but mainly to listen to other sports being discussed - and I own a really nice double t-shirt I picked up last fall at Dick's Sporting Goods in Watertown. Just last playoff, I wasn't exactly heart broken when they lost to the Eagles. Yet I was a little ticked with the bad things Tiki said and did surrounding his retirement. But can I gloat? Do I deserve to lord over and make wallow and all that? I don't know.
But, second, boy did they smoke them. How many times did Brady hit the turf? Now I understand that saying about ass and grass. And I have never seen a play built around catching a ball with your head. Who thought that one up?
My tee. My team.
Update: a little something for the auslanders amongst you.

Harrumph. I was viewing it more as a not so impressive team won by preventing another team from playing football, but thats just me, vendor of sour grapes.
And just to be contrary, as I was listening to the smiths on the way in today.. I always took Girlfriend IAC as a song about a guy in a not so good relationship who's other half went into a coma before he had the chance to dump her and now he is stuck in a rut of pretending to be caring for her when he really wants to escape but cannot for fear of being viewed as a jerk.

Its difficult to see that the Giants deserved to win because they were the better team. Neither were the better team, but the Giants did make better plays. I didn't stay up late to watch the post-game hype but I hope #85 was the MVP.
