This is a big day. If the Federal Conservative Party can actually convince the nation through today's budget that they are better at rolling out the Liberal agenda, they may win the election that the Liberals may force by voting against the budget. It will be interesting to see if the tiny and fairly useless if focused "beer and popcorn" tax cuts are continued or whether a dramatic big bundle of some sort or another is actually going to be put on the table. The rules for today are odd. For example, the more Ontario gets, despite the wishes of the Harper government, the less likely an election will be thrust upon us as more of Liberal Ontario might vote Conservative. Given that it is also NHL trade deadline day as well as the special state senate election over in the North Country, who has time for work?

For once, I am actually interested in the budget, if only to see how it will be used as a battlefield tactic to trigger or put off the FINAL CONFLICT between Steve and Steph.
Otherwise I will predict few surprises in terms of nothing major but it will of course drive Jack Layton into a froth as an example of a right wing pro-business budget smacking of cronyism. Gilles will say "look, see, dey do not love Quebec" and Dion will say "we will have to review this" then vote for it.
And the shoe thing. Cripes. When will that moronic 1950s style photo op bit about new shoes die? I predict it will die when people stop handing out HUGE fake cheques and cutting HUGE red ribbons with HUGE fake scissors for the media and the three onlookers that show up for such things.

And apparently for a used and only partially operating hand held hair dryer. The Leafs are wizards.

I'd vote for Gilles. At least we'd have decent jokes during scrums.
