You never know what is out there waiting to enrich your life in unexpected ways. The DVD sets of Dr. Who include clips of BBC "continuity" - meaning the bits between shows telling you what is coming up. Suddenly, I am back in my grandparents house in the 1970 visit to Scotland face glued to the inordinately sharp TV screen with all those extra lines and only four buttons for four channels.

Is it really wise to take on a new interest when this is what is on the web?

Ad the voice from our computer/library resounds into my livingroom about once every three months when the new DW DVDs arrive... "how many of those "this week on Doctor Who, the doctor blah blah" ads are you going to watch before you watch the actual show...?"
One of the recent DVDs, Destiny of the Daleks I believe, even had two or three austrialisn commercials for a home computer system in the 80s that starred Tom Baker and Lala Ward (bit of trivia: she is Richard Dawkins wife, formerly Tom Baker's wife and she was introduced to RD by Douglas Adams, a mutual friend of the three of them as well as script editor and writer for DW for a while!)
