But Dad.. I have to take the 5:20 am VIA to TO for a meeting tomorrow, do I have to watch it ...? I mean, I can play along tomorrow night after everyone posts and just pretend I watched it...

ugh. fine..

Alan -

5:20 am VIA is the worst. This is what it looked like in January 2005.

Alan -

Harper: principle Canada's government is always selected by the people.
Me: err...there have been coalitions in the past, right?
Harper: We are doing plenty for the economy.
Me: You changed the topic but I believe you to a degree.
Harper: Next month the budget...
Me: As of the declaration of the coalition
Harper: We are consulting...
Me: As of the declaration of the coalition
Harper: We are happy people sharing the love.
Me: You never said that
Harper: No, I didn't. that's right. Just listen to my voice.
Me: Are you all right? Your voice is so velvet smooth.
Harper: A coalition with separatists cannot be good for Canada...
Harper: The opposition has no right...
Me: You got a minority, right? And 36% of the vote, right?
Harper: Yes. But we will use every legal means at our disposal...
Me: What does that mean?
Harper: Thank you.
Me: Where are you going?
Harper: I am done.
Me: That's it?
Harper: Thank you. Good night. Let the tone of my voice lull you.
Me: I am getting sleepy.
Harper: Good. Sweet dreams.

Ben (The Tiger) -

You noticed that too, eh Alan?

The tone of his voice was very smooth.

Wow. Dion's tape is not even in focus. The bookshelf behind him is sharp but his head is fuzzy. Tory cameramen?

By the way, when was the last time Canada had it's Parliament suspended as opposed to having a coalition government?

Alan -

Ben blogs Dion's fuzzy headed response.

I wonder if I should write a letter to the Governor General, too. Everyone else is.

Ben (The Tiger) -

He apparently likes the word "consensus" a lot.

Alan -

His voice was not so velvet smooth.

I don't like Harper's smooth voice - it doesn't suit him, and sitting at the desk he looked hunched and I was distracted by his hands - they looked huge! He should have been standing shot from the mid-chest up and spoken with his Parliament voice (not the shouty one) a la Jack! in his statement. I can't stand Jack! but he actually looked quite good.

As for Dion, what an image disaster. If the books on the shelf behind you are going to be more in focus than your face, at least make the books on your shelf decent ones - a 365 day calendar still in the box?! Seriously!? This is what a bankrupt Liberal party looks like - literally. Grainy too close images from a web cam - should have sent it straight to youtube, at least there the quality would have been less noticeable.

As to what was said.... snore...

Alan -

"...I was distracted by his hands - they looked huge!..."

GOLD!

Update: 5:20 am Via still sucks. VIA tea and muffins form a concrete like substance in ones tummy that stays with you all day....

I missed Harpo's speech by 5 minutes and had to hear just the snippets which made him sound like he was on cold tablets at 10 am, Christmas morning.. ready to go to sleep again and just wanting quiet...

I thought I was listening to Duceppe and thought "he's being pretty nationalistic for a crazed separatist bent on destruction of Canada" till I realized it was that Dion guy.
