George gets a rough ride. For the most part he deserves it to one degree or another but this whole thing with the Queen is a bit much even for me:
He had stumbled on a line in his speech, saying that she had helped the United States "celebrate its bicentennial in 17..." Mr. Bush caught himself and corrected the date to 1976. He paused, winked, and looked to see if the Queen had taken offence.Gee wizz. Can't a guy get a break? Let's be honest. He are some reasons a visit by HRH to my house would not go so well as a visit to the White House:
- The teas is in a mug. Deal with it.
- My daughter will ask "what's with that hat?"
- You may have to wait your turn.
- Phil stays outside.

HRH would not be amused with my bathroom. That's for damn sure. And the dog might be a bit too friendly for her tastes as well.

Exactly: "It's a litter box, mam! It's a work room with a little box!"

Yeah teh media were a little harsh on him for that. Politics aside he's not a bad guy and he handled the faux pas well.
Four things the Queen would not like at my house:
1. The lack of adequatly reupholstered antique chairs at our kitchen table.
2. The fact that we still have Hp Sauce and Weetabix in the house even though it no longer says "By Appointment to Her Majesty..."
3. Litterbox.. Yep, in the computer room because "its your cat Sean!"..
4. The spare room is actually my 17 year olds when he remembers where he lives and it has a futon...
She'd like the Tetley tea though.. Ceylon this week.

I'm not a fan of either person but when I heard the clip I thought he handled it deftly. Not a moment's hesitation when he said "she gave me a look only a mother can give". Stewart/Letterman/Leno couldn't have handled it better. People need to lighten up.
