I've been threatening to take up extreme croquet since we bought the cottage. P'raps I'll host a tournament for the KSPC at some point. There's loads of terrain suitable for it.

That is an excellent idea - though I am leaning towards use of public space like City Park. I recommend the equipment from that shop - they are just in Brighton. Their cheapest set costs maybe double of a good set at Canadian Tire but it is hardwood and the hoops are strong enough that you can't bend them.

Who got a new job? I'm sick for a few days and all the news flies past my ears like good advice..

So, Flea, how about it? Up for the TSPC?

Sorry, Alan. what they call an "extreme mallet" is not a mallet for extreme croquet. One end of the mallet head is flat as per normal, but the other end has a wedge face. You need it for lofting the ball over obstacles. :-) Remember, we're talking about a game played in wild areas and around trees.

Where do you get that sort of mallet? Is it a DYI? Are there particular hats you get to wear? I say do both as I like the idea of a 10:30 am game at City Park with kids and parents then retiring for lunch at the Brew Pub.

I'm sure they can be purchased, but it's not exactly brain surgery to make one, either. I'll do some research.

I am unhandy. No, I am anti-handy. Plus I am a source of extra torque. I break things. I've snapped a Nordic Trak and the shaft between the peddles of a very good bicycle. That is, I understand, why I have never been an astronaut. I break too many things. It is on my personal record.

I'll get some measurements and knock something together for you, Alan. In the meantime, check out the Connecticut eXtreme Croquet Society's mallet gallery. Strength is a virtue.

Note to history: second vintage baseball practice is tomorrow and soon we may be playing in the World Series.
