How many ways can you write the same thing week after week before there is any coffee on the desk in front of you?
- It's the Kingston Brew Pub's Wellie Toss tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm. We are talking the kids as this is the closest thing we have to a good cheese roll around here. Wellie Boot Hurling seems to be a legitimate Highland Games activity so maybe I will have a wee nippy sweetie while we are at it. Definitely a KSPC sanctioned event.
- The Flea and others point out the decision to raise the right flag at the 90th anniversary of Vimy Ridge this summer. I added my two cents to remind that Newfoundland had its own flag of its own Dominion and that should be added, too. I even let my mole know. I have a mole again now. A mole with ambition as well.
- Besides that good move, it was a tough week but was it as tough as the Prime Minister's? He showed his dopey mean side, practically offering the nation the wisdom of the person who asks the question "are you still hitting the bottle?" while politicizing the troops in Afghanistan for his own purposes. Nice. He may have guaranteed the separatists win in Quebec. Brilliant. He seems to be cooking the books of the electoral reform review. Perfect. Oh yes, and the transparent intention budget leading to the fastest Federal-Provincial tax break transfer in history. I will be so happy to think of that and the other "special interest placation through tax break" aspects the NuGov National Vision as I prepare my own taxes this year.
- Best Blue Jay's slag of the week:
Who else is ready for another season of Jamie Campbell starting his home run call for pop-ups that get caught by the shortstop?
Days to go now. - Rita Joe passed away, too. One of the good things about growing up in Nova Scotia with a cohesive people like the Mi'kmaq in the community, with neat aspects like creation stories mentioning things you take school bus trips to see like Glooscap's canoe, is you hear about people like Rita Joe when you are a kid and you get fed some respect. Not really enough but some.

Alan, how is the surviving cat doing? Depressed?
Alan - March 23, 2007 9:02 AM
Not bad. Returned to the cat she used to be with the run of the house in the day but she's not down or hunting or anything.

At this point in the political charade, I'd be pleased if the Reformers would get on with governing and stop framing everything they do in refernce to the "previous Liberal government". Sheesh.
Alan - March 23, 2007 10:10 AM
If I would a Reformer I would be planning a schism.
Gordo - March 23, 2007 10:13 AM
I think it will be great sport int eh next election watching Peter Mackay trying to keep up to Elizabeth May ... I don't think she stands a chance, but the back-stabbing weasel will be made a fool of in the process. :-D

Ok, so gr beat me, but at this point I'm pleased to be online at all. The nice thing about being the one to print the programs is I get to surf while waiting to insert the next page into the printer

>> If I would a Reformer I would be planning a schism.
Ya think? Hell, if I was a fiscal conservative, I'd be thinking about a schism. They're spending like Liberals on crack; it's only a matter of time before the corruption sets in. Probably a _short_ time at that.

Who is the mole? Is it that Googlebot guy?
gorthos - March 23, 2007 10:38 AM
If only you could find some KSPC sanctioned events that were a little farther from Ye Olde Office at 2:00 pm on a Friday afternoone.
gorthos - March 23, 2007 11:03 AM
I see in the Yahoo news they are claiming that the Reformers are inching close to a majority. Egad.. new England is looking like a better and better place to live
Gordo - March 23, 2007 2:58 PM
I was just reading a wire article about the Reformers' "NEW, Improved and corruption-proof" sponsorship plan. Life is just too funny for words sometimes.

I whole-heartedly agree there should be some recognition of the Newfoundland regiments that served in WW1. I'm glad that Harper has said there will be a Red Ensign at Vimy though.
And your mention of Jamie Campbell slag is clearly related to the envy you feel at having your beloved Sox finish below the Jays in the standings last year. I know it was tough to grasp Alan, but get over it. What will you say when the Jays win the division this year? Will it be suicide watch at GenX40?
:-)
Alan - March 23, 2007 4:42 PM
Hope ye the Jays never suffer the pox of August like the Red Sox had last year. "Jay: #2 by default" is how the asterix reads I think.
Chris Taylor - March 23, 2007 4:59 PM
The idea of the Jays winning the division seems like an good but abstract, pie-in-the-sky idea -- like Toronto having good traffic flow, or being able to board a commercial airliner within 15 minutes of your arrival at the airport.
Mind you I would have said the same about Detroit making the World Series last year, so anything is possible.
Although my rational mind believes no such miracle is possible, I do buy tickets to the Jays' last regular-season game in the hopes that, if it is clutch time, I will get to see the pivotal moment.
