A Useful Map
After finding no maps of use in the Canadian media, I came across
this handy map dated 2006 from Britain's
Ministry of Defence when looking for information about Afghanistan's Helmand province what with news that
Canadian soldiers joining with the British in the fight there. Some interesting disclaimers and legal warnings down there at the bottom. Choose your favorite. Mine is:
This information must be accorded the same degree of security protection as that accorded thereto by the United Kingston Government.
You can decide whether this web site has the required degree of security protection as you click the map for a much more detailed scale. Hint: my password includes the name of my old cat.

Yup. Your boys got stuck right in the place of honor all right. One of the worst places to be from what I've read being right up against the part of Pakistan that's a non-governable zone. Canada has as much a beef against NATO allies as anyone, maybe better. You guys kept the faith and we love you for it.

Wow, great security. Good thing they showed where camp bastion is. Actually, the national geographic maps available via cd are even better in quality.
I love cartography. It was my second choice (after meteorology) in muster in the Navy when I signed up. ::sigh:: if only women hadn't prevented me from following through with my career choice..
