These group projects don't always have to be so stodgy. Why can't we lighten up and just tell each other what is going on this summer. This seems to be what we are up to:
- Canoeing. I think I am terrified of lakes now. All I want to do is hug the shoreline. There are animals in lakes you know. Hidden ones.
- Camping. We are planning to take the kids camping in a couple of weeks for the first time. Nothing rustic. There are animals in the woods.
- Backyard. Having one for the first summer since 2002, we are BBQing plenty and have had a whack of visitors over the last few weeks. We have seven kids under eight right now. Help. Plus there are fewer animals in the backyard but they are still about. Gotta be careful.

A couple road trips: New Brunswick, Kingston.
A few festivals: Caribana, the Ex.
And maybe, just maybe, seeing Flea perform on Thursday.

1. mowing the grass and weeding the garden whilst sipping an absinthe and coke zero, every single day after work.
2. writing at least 1/2 of my book
3. not strangling my children
4. planning my walking path in my woods
5. continuing to pretend that life is not a pointless venture beyond continuing my genetics

1. Chasing the almighty dollar, per usual.
2. Going to the doctor for a checkup. And NO, I am not allowing her to do that or anything like it.
3. Picking blueberries by the bucketload.
4. Killing my plants because I am an incompetent gardener.
5. Met Gorthos, so I can cross that off the list. He's a neat guy with a pretty wife and great kids.
6. Visiting Kingston--I have been to the Kingston Brewpub more often than any restaurant in MY OWN town. Its good.
7. Gawd, that's it? Oh, I hear that peaches will be ready soon up here, so a visit to the orchard to pick those.
Whoowhee! What a wild summer.

Chasing the almighty dollar, eh? Sounds familiar. I suspect that will be the bulk of my summer too :-(

It should be mentioned that I live in a summertime paradise, I really do, so don't go anywhere, and I not only chase the almighty dollar but also the almighty puppy. She is an endless amusement.

I figure I'll just take some pictures and get out into the woods a few times. Nothing special.

this summer I will:
- not shorten my 13-yr-old's life, thereby earning a nomination for sainthood even though I'm not Catholic
- enjoy the heat while sipping Boddington's
- reinstate my BBQ as the cooking method of choice, since I finally have a backyard again in which to use it
- head to Vancouver for the last week of August to pick up said, live, 13-yr-old and visit some friends before the dreaded end of summer
