Big Crowds Expected For Jay's Game

Sad news. Apparently the Mets are no longer playing in the Hall of Fame game at Cooperstown this year as Associated Press reports in the NYT this morning (at the end of the story):

The Toronto Blue Jays will replace the Mets as Baltimore’s opponent in this year’s Hall of Fame game May 21. The Mets and the Orioles earlier were announced as opponents, but the change was made yesterday after ESPN moved the starting time for the Mets’ game against the Yankees the previous day to 8:05 p.m.

This - plus an undergrad reunion 1600 km east of here a week or two later - casts doubts on me going, despite the delights of the parade not to mention the fun of being in the stands with men dressed as children just like me rabid baseball fans. I mean, the Jays? The Orioles? Who would you boo for? The only worse AL combination of teams might be Tampa v. KC.

Still, gotta get to Cooperstown in 2007.
