I write this Thursday with no idea when I will be able to click the toggle from hide to unhide. One of my favorite things about my personal blog interface is the use of physical toggles and the other sorts of knobs and buttons one might see on a ship's console in a rerun of the 1970s episodes of Battlestar Gallactica. So with that in mind, perhaps some different sorts of topics: websites of use or interest. We forget that our bloggy forefathers were actually loggers of the web who linked to useful linky links and did not opine in ways of little interest to the throng as we do now. Less vanity more utility. Here are a few I have come to love:
- The Digital Book Index: it is hard to believe but there was actual information before the internet and much of it was what was called "authoritative" meaning you could rely on it. A strange concept in these days. Anyway, it is free and bountiful and you can find things like Pasteur's words about coming to understand yeast.
- Strange Maps: "strange" is a synonym for fun as far as I am concerned. Bad crap? That is weird. And where else can you find out about the last refuge of East Germany?
- The RSBS site: the world of beer writing is expanding rapidly and the guy(s) at the Beerinator have created an aggregator site that is actually useful. I use it daily.
- Google Maps: sure you use it all the time but did you notice that you can now add a third destination to the travel mapping page? Look what you can do! Fabulous. This probably came in months ago but I just noticed it and there is a little red "new" next to it so there you go.
Update: Tomorrow is now, baby! I have to tell you I can't believe the rush that is posting a Friday post at 10:29 pm Thursday. Woot does not capture the richness of emotions. Anyway, I have one word for you after hanging out with three good bloggers at Bier Markt in Toronto. Sanka. How can you screw up an entirely wonderful lamb dinner with Denison weizen plus great well handled Belgian and US micro beers? Serve me a Sanka-like-thing for afters when I do not want caffeine. Ummm...spaceman food. Pass the Tang.

1. I see that I have finally been kicked off of Liblogs for not being political or partisian enough apparently.
2. Hooray for the GDR! They live! I bet the land based Iguanas have evolved tunneling and swimming abilities to escape.
3. Google maps is great for large scale point a - point B trip planning but try to go from your home to a B&B in Niagara on the lake.. it sent me to an inductrial site in St. Catherines.

My oh my. Which is nicer? The 403 or the 401 on a Friday afternoon? Highway driving is so fun.

my vote is the 400 series highway that has yet to be constructed that bans trucks, kids, the elderly and the stupid..
