Channel surfing as I sipped Buckley's, I came across boxing on the CBC's French service last night - an entire night of championship boxing from the Molson Centre, home of the Montreal Canadians. It was like stepping back 30 years watching properly produced boxing on broadcast TV. Not a hint of political correctness enhanced by the balanced and high-level of the boxers. The Jean Pascal fight was particularly good to see - plenty of skill and respect going both ways with the local champ winning an unanimous decision. Now I'm going to have to follow Fight News Canada.
Chances such a thing would be shown on the English language service. Zippo.

Indeed, it was a good appetizer for tonite's Mayweather/Hatton bout

To be fair, CBC English TV is showing the entire card in a one hour summary this afternoon. Hatton is on right now on the Best Damn Sports Show. I would love to have a chance to see that fight live.

My dad was a boxer in the army in Germany so I grew up watching a lot of the sport on TV and live.. Never took it up though as I have had about tree concussions in soccer and all I need to do is bump my head on a door frame and I see stars and get a headache.. But I love watching it, much to my hippy pacifist wifes dislike.
