...must not tell Newfie joke...
Venezuela creates its own unique time zone on Sunday, putting the clock back half-an-hour on a permanent basis. President Hugo Chavez says that an earlier dawn means the performance of the country will improve, as more people will wake up in daylight. "I don't care if they call me crazy, the new time will go ahead," he said.Hey - isn't it just in the same zone as Newfoundland now? And what is Chavez saying about Saskatchewan - lazy or not? Because, you know, he thinks about these things from that many points of view, you know.

Bah. People will still get up at 8:00, regardless of whether or not it's 8:30 everywhere else. In fact, I think I'll sleep in tomorrow in honour of Venezuela.

My wife has her own time zone. NO matter where she is, she is always 15 minutes behind everyone else. I call it KST.

If Chavez is turning his clock back by half an hour he will be a full hour behind Newfoundland. Newfoundland is -3:30 GMT while Venezuela and Labrador are -4:00. So Chavez' new time zone will be -4:30 GMT between the North American Eastern Time and Atlantic Time zones.
