First sweep of the Yankees at Fenway in 17 years, fifth time in history that any team hits four homers in a row. To be fair, it was also rookie Chase Wright's, the pitcher, second game.
Without getting into a blow by blow, it was a bit funny when Wily Mo Pena, the fifth batter, did not hit a home run:
Only one other pitcher, Paul Foytack of the 1963 Los Angeles Angels, had ever allowed homers to four consecutive batters. But Foytack, at least, was pulled after the fourth home run. With Colter Bean just starting to loosen in the Yankees’ bullpen, Wright stayed in to face Wily Mo Pena with the ballpark buzzing. The fans gasped as Pena dribbled a foul grounder — what, not a home run? — and Wright finally ended the barrage with a strikeout. And it was nice to see Varitek pound the fourth one, giving rise to A-Rod's "holy-mo-lee-toe" grimmace caught in this picture as the last of the four home run hitters ran past his spot at third base.

one for the ages definitely. the papers are saying that dice k was not steallar last night but i'd make the arguement that he was. i like our team 1-9 but if you look at the yanks theyre monsters relative to us or anybody else. we're good 1-8, toronto is good 1-6 but the yanks are just out and out killers. in addition they seem to puff up and become even more scary, looking at pitch after pitch, when their backs are to the wall as they were last night. credit where credit is due; i mean, before this weekend there they were right behind us and they currently have no pitching at all. bumpkis. none. there arent going to be a lot of three and four hitters against thse guys this year. and so, in this context, i thought dice k was gritty, determined, skillful, and hard when he needed to be. no shame in needing your team to back you up against this team. i thought he was great. a facinating real working class pitching performance. i'm loving dice k.

I am liking him, too. If he and Okajima have one thing in common it is a final result oriented style of pitching. They seem to be having no problem with balls and not always getting a strike out. It is a cool and confident sort of picthing. I thought the best display of all the three games was Okajima at the end of Friday night's game.
