Like I am going to post on a Friday evening about something other than how great the weather service is. This bit from the "Forecast Discussion" on the neighbouring Jefferson County forecast is gold:
Issued at: 1005 PM EDT FRI SEP 1 2006 Issued by: NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY...UPDATE...18Z GFS AND NAM HAVE CENTER OF HEAVIER PRECIP A LITTLE FARTHER TO THE WEST OF 12Z RUNS...BACK WHERE IT WAS A COUPLE DAYS AGO. WILL STAY WITH CURRENT FORECAST OF 1.5 TO MORE THAN 2 INCHES TOTAL RAINFALL OVER A LARGE PORTION OF CENTRAL AND WESTERN NY AND MAINTAIN FLASH FLOOD WATCH. STILL LOOKS LIKE SOUTHERN TIER AND GENESEE VALLEY WILL BEAR THE BRUNT OF THE RAINFALL BUT LATEST CONTINGENCY FORECAST FROM RFC SHOWS THAT RIVERS AND CREEKS WILL STAY JUST BELOW FLOOD STAGES USING HIGHER END OF RAINFALL FORECAST.Good work, Hibbert. Just keep 4 pm Sunday clear. Dino BBQ and Foreigner. I want my Dino BBQ and Foreigner.HIBBERT

I hope so too as it is 'so urgent urgent urgent' because it 'feels like the first time' that I have gone to the state fair and I don't want to get soaked and feel 'cold as ice'
Think how smart and rich I would be if I put my brain power to astrophysics rather than bad rock lyrics from 1979....

Dear Hibbert,
Deity of weatherishness, please keep it clear over TO so that I can enjoy my C'est What and Ben Harper.

And so that I (and Flea?) can enjoy the Air Show.

Bro and I were supposed to be closing in the cottage roof this weekend. Instead, I went over last night and wrapped the freshly delivery 50 sheets of plywood in a tarp. I figure that should guarantee nice weather ... ;-)

I wonder what an air show is like in wet and cloudy weather? Does rain improve what Foreigner sounds like? Why does Paul get to see Ben Harper and we are stuck with Foreigner? Oh yeah, its free, OK....

I suppose being a vegetarian takes away the whole eating BBQ aspect of eating BBQ as I listen to free geriatric 80s soft rock.

Oddly proud these forecasters down south. COnsider this morning's update:
FORECAST RIGHT ON THE MONEY AT THIS TIME. JUST SOME MINOR CHANGES TO THE GRIDS IN THE FIRST PERIOD AND SOME MORNING WORDING TAKEN OUT. AS OF 945 AM STORM TOTAL ESTIMATED PRECIPITATION IS JUST OVER
AN INCH OVER EXTREME SOUTHWEST CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY.
Looks like Weslakia gets it much more than Easlakia. Foreigner and BBQ looking more and more likely.

The Canadian forecasts back in the 80s used to be like this (I worked in a non-government weather office), very heavy in personality. Now I think we spit them out from a computer.
BTW: my captcha almost spelled "tax god". Trying to beam messages in our head?

I would worry more if it was "voteal" or "eattoe".

Still raining....
Wet, wet,wet.
Field of soybeans outside my west windows look happy but even the cat doesn't want to leave the house.

Managed four BH tunes before we made like New Orleans and evacuated back to a dry pub. Seemed windier and rainier and colder than forecasted. It was quite paradoxical to listen to Damian Marley blather on about Jamaica and hot gangsta things accompanied by a steady beat of Rasta while standing in a see of raincoated and umbrella'ed melanin-challenged people all leaning about 8 degrees to windward while trying to shuffle feet to the beat and look happier than they clearly appeared to be.
C'est What lies! Grrrr!

The Air Show was delayed an hour not for rain but for cloud but it went on in the end. Drizzle at one point necessitated the yellow poncho as me-cover rather than ground-cover but it cleared for the Snowbirds.
