Who exactly created the "reply all" function anyway? I know at least one scientist is asking the question:
Okulitch admits that pressing the "reply all" button on his e-mail was probably unwise, especially as a clarification came from the ministry shortly afterwards explaining that the new wording was compulsory only in documents being presented to Lunn or being prepared on his behalf...So not so much a lost job as a lost office. The scientist emeritus title is offered to scientists who are retiring, but want to continue their research. They are given office space and support services, but are not paid.
The best reply related accident I was ever involved with arose when I sent a really angry response to a very good client back in the day when email was sent more rare than now. I immediately realized my error but also that it was lunch meaning he was likely out, so I drove to his office, ask his staff if I could check something on his desk which allowed me to delete the email from me. If he had been there I would have fallen on my sword.
