I am sorry. I have been unkind to New Brunswick. My coverage here is far too thin. When people say it is the highway to Maine, I laugh a little. When CBC held a late '70s Canada Day broadcast from every one of Canada's nine provincial capitals...because someone in Toronto forgot New Bunswick, I laughed a lot.
Well, you can forget that anti-New Brunswick stuff around here tonight because this is election night in Canada's neighbour to Canada's Ocean Playground, the other home to Canada's potato sector...or industry...and when last I looked the whole place was in a deadlock:
...the house standings were 28 Progressive Conservatives including the Speaker, 26 Liberals and one Independent.Ye-ha. So get to know more about NB. Thrill to the obligatory article about the leaders casting their votes. Ask yourselves why the heck the flag is like that anyway. Plan for yourself how fast you can drive through it.
Update: They threw the bums out! Sorta:
Graham ended seven years of Tory rule with a narrow victory Monday night that provides him with a small majority of seats in the legislature. But in a mathematical quirk, the Liberals won more seats than the Conservatives while receiving a smaller proportion of the popular vote. The Tories garnered 47.65 per cent of the popular vote to the Liberals' 47.00 per cent.Isn't democracy great!Graham told CBC that it was clear that New Brunswick voted for "a bold, new, activist government."

My mother is doing her bit for democracy today and working at a polling station. And the speed limit on the highway in some parts is 120. Presumably so you can drive through it that much faster.

I know. The new highways are sweet. I used to be able to make Cavendish PEI to Calais Maine in under 5 hours.

Well, herring chokers could be described as never missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

See, I was going to avoid using the nickname for NBers. I really was.

Where is this New Brunswick you are talking about? I've heard of PEI and Newfoundland...
