How better to introduce one of the most powerful people in the world to Canada than taking her to a Tim Horton's in Stellerton, Pictou Co.:
At Tim Hortons, Peter MacKay and Condoleezza Rice playfully argued over who should pick up the tab for his tea and her half-regular-half-decaf coffee, black with Splenda. They wrestled verbally, to and fro, until the clerk behind the counter insisted it was on the house. How swell. It's like a scene from a Rick Mercer skit. I was the year behind the guy in university and he never offered to gove the tab for me. Jeesh. But this is not the only thing in the news today mirroring Canadian TV:
At the end of Tuesday's session, correspondents say Saddam Hussein was showing obvious annoyance at damning testimony from a succession of Kurdish witnesses. He threatened one of the witnesses' lawyers, accusing him of being an agent of "Iranians and Zionists", adding "we will crush his head".So that is what he is doing in his cage between court appearances, watching 15 year old Kids in the Hall. I suppose it is only fair, given what Rummy did. Surely, he wasn't copying this man.

The Toronto Star, contrary to the Globe and Mail, reported that Rice sweetened her coffee with Sugar Twin, whereas the CBC, always trying to remain neutral, noted only that she used "a sweetener."
Must our national press stake out ideological ground even over artifical sweeteners? Which product did the Secretary actually use? Inquiring minds want to know.

Frankly, I think she is sweet enough. I love that jacket.
