It appears that one day you will not all be with the rest of us:

"There's a point at which the Chinese will say 'We have to have domain names in Chinese characters' and they will set up an independent system." Other speakers at the conference felt that in some ways a "Balkanised" internet was inevitable.First, if they figure out a way to index the dang thing this might not be bad. Second, it you have access to the different networks - and why wouldn't you - what does it matter? Third, why do the Balkans get all the bad press even when they do not do anything?

How about a Canadian Confederation internet where all the heavy financial lifting is done in the Toronto part of the internet and various regional internets get to whine about the Toronto part. I figure the Alberta part of the internet is the every vanishing .xxx domain or possibly off-shore/on-line gambling.
