So we were just sitting there watching Game 4 of the Mets and Cards and up in the kitchen all I am hearing is bluegrass. Apparently we are easing the furrowed brows into sleep by playing a little classical most evenings but little did we know that, low and behold, WCNY plays bluegrass on Sunday evenings for three whole hours. May I have a woot, brothers and sisters for tonight's broadcast:
9:00 Bill Knowlton's Bluegrass RambleThe rest of the week looks pretty much like wall-to-wall egghead music except for a slice of jazz when the eggheads are out getting some supper. A welcome addition to the ever wonderfully named String Fever on NCPR THursday afternoons. Good reception in Kingston at 90.9 FM from Watertown which makes for a third separate NPR station transmitting from Watertown after NCPR at 88.9 and WRVO at 91.7, though WRVO's 89.9 signal from Owsego is much louder in Kingston. Looks like Etna could scrape in some WCNY reception on 91.3 FM.
Bill’s quarterly all-oldtime Ramble with the great string bands and balladeers of the past and the “Young Fogies” keeping pre-bluegrass acoustic country music alive. Performances by Darby and Tarleton, Mark “Clawgrass” Johnson and Emory Lester; and the Lonesome Sisters. Also a 136th birthday tribute to Uncle Dave Macon, born Oct 7, 1870.

I knew it. You bought a banjo, too.

And so the Glee Club just got that little bit more interesting.

"What About Me Lord" by The Churchmen may inspire me to do a gothic cover version.

I have a secret ambition to play Offspring's "Gotta Get Away (From Me)" with the mandolin on the rhythm guitar line and a banjo for the bass.

<i>Slightly</i> off topic but thought I should mention the maple-cheddar I just picked up from Cheese Magic in Kensington Market. No brand, I'm afraid so I do not know from whence they got it. I would describe it as "ok" so no worry. Next up is some jalapeno havarti, one of my favourites. I think it will go excellently well with the garlic bread and Zlatorog I picked up for the purpose.
