Half way through the season and, well, I have to admit it. I snoozed through the game. What better way to spend an achy got-a-bug sorta Saturday...or Monday for that matter. I was with the game on 100.7 FM until the field goal for the Orange made it 7-3 which was a diappointment but no crisis early in the second quarter. Then I dozed. Then it was 21-3. The I dozed again. Then it was over.
So, OK, Pitt be Syracuse. The sun will come up - it's not like North Korea has the bomb or anything. Here are the numbers:

The Orange clearly out-punted Pitt with their five averaging 34.2 yards while Carney's averaged 40.8. Carney's two kickoffs were perfect at 65 yards each while his team mate and field goal kicker Patrick Shadle let a dud fly for 19 yards. And, as reported in the game notes, Carney punted five times for 204 yards, tying him with Jim Fox for second all time in career punts with 235. SU campus newspaper The Daily Orange reports the story under the headline "Reality Check", the Post-Standard goes with "Poor run game still plagues Orange".
Next stop - Morgantown. Backstory here.
