When I took the kid's to the birthday party at 2 pm it was still 3-3 against Cincinnati. But when the party was over, so was the game and there was Brendan being interviewed on the radio about the one he "shanked". It was this sort of game:

What does the Orange offense do with the turnover? Three penalties and a 16-yard punt. Syracuse has 70 yards total offense ... for the game ... with 7:41 left in the third quarter. Carney got a nice snap from Ian Hammond but bobbled the ball. He ran to his right, had time, and tried to kick it rugby style. Instead, the ball went up in the air and traveled 16 yards.

So unlike Louisville last week or Iowa in week two, this was a bad loss. 17-3. Eight punts in a game is never a good sign. And a 61 yard average for kickoffs is not particularly shining. But still a record was set:

Senior Brendan Carney punted eight times for 343 yards and became Syracuse’s all-time leader in punts. Carney has punted 253 times in his career, passing Mike Shafer’s mark of 249. Carney is already SU’s career leader in punting yardage (10,726).

Freshman Delone Carter has a good game with 21 rushing plays - given the chance like he did when we went to see the Orange play against Wyoming.
