You may just have noticed that I like NCPR public radio out of the neighbouring North Country of upstate New York. Well, it's their membership drive week and this year I was able to help introduce a few people and, whammo ("whammo" in this case being the good work of my colleague Rob), a bunch of businesses on this side of the big river put together a great grand prize to be offered to the winner of a draw. This is great.
On Friday I am taking half a holiday and heading over to answer phones for a few hours when the Beat Authority is on and give our pledge. In the new house, NCPR booms in at 93.9 FM which is pretty much the case for the whole Kingston area. Sure, it is a front to cross the border and pick up bags of Baby Ruth Halloween sized bars and maybe a six each of of Lake Placid and Sackets Harbor beer but it's all good.
So, first, start listening to this station where ever you are and wonder at what local communtity radio can be - even when the community includes an area of million of people in two countries. Then get hooked. Then start speaking about upcoming Adirondack community events even if you are in other lands on other continents. Then pledge. Heck, you are already on their website.
I am waiting impatiently for the creation of NPR Canada myself. Now that's something I would cut the edges off sandwich quarters for. Ummm...ham salad.

Most cool alan, and thank you. At my current home, I cannot get it by radio wave, and my dialup sucks for such things, however this will be coolness as streamed into my office and IF I mae the purchase of said home we spoke of today, it will fill a void left since my youth listening to WHAM in summers camping and winters pining for camping.
BTW, you WILL attend our homewarming event should we be successful in the bid n'est pas?

I think WRVO runs 1930s to 40s radio every night from 8 pm. You should get that, too, if you become a westender, townshippy.

Oh my wife would love that. Her parents were ancient when they had her which really means she was raised in the 1940s instead of the 70s. She adores that era.
Is that area townshippy-westend? I'll send you a link to the locale because I see it as townshippy eastend.
