This is an interesting article for nothing to do with the point of the article, which is roughly this:
An anonymous blogger who posted pro-Bob Rae and anti-Michael Ignatieff messages on the Internet works for a high-profile Montreal advertising firm, leading to allegations the Rae camp was involved in a “smear campaign” against Mr. Ignatieff. But then the article goes on to include some funny statements like these:
- "The blogosphere is supposed to be an environment for grassroots Liberals to come together and discuss politics": I thought it was a place for workers to come together when the clutch is fully engaged. A place to watch videos of squirrels eat cookies bigger than their heads.
- "We don't pay bloggers": Why not? What is so sacred about blogs that you can send out some well placed cheques for well placed comments. If I am, as I appear to be, Canada's gentleman blogger, then I think it is time to state clearly that it is OK to pay bloggers.
- "'Vote for him at your peril,' the blog said": why is it that a statement on a blog like this is news at all? Can't one now find any statement one wants for any point of view sourced reliably to any person on the planet? Isn't that the whole point of wikiality, that it is all made up now, that everything is equally authorized and authoritative so nothing is news? And when do I not vote at my peril anyway?

Getting paid to blog can occur...but it shifts the process somehow. All of a sudden you are looking for stories rather than flipping a bit of snark here and a snip of policy there.
I rather like carpe canum. Depending, of course, on the canum in quare.

Could someone please carpe the canum across the hall who yip and yap at my comings and goings? Also the one upstairs that scritch scritch scritches across the floor at all hours?

Should note that "canis" is third declension, therefore it should be "cave canem" if one is being wary and "carpe canem" if one is being greedy.

"<i>The blogosphere is supposed to be an environment for grassroots Liberals to come together and discuss politics</i>"
Oh, it is??? That's funny, because I'm not a liberal, and I suppose that having a blog makes me part of the so-called "blogosphere." Or maybe my being conservative/moderate automatically makes me NOT part of the blogosphere.
That said, where's my check?

You know, I am very pleased having a college boy classicist conservative as well as US military kindly Christian conservatives ready (aye ready) to heed the call for diversified perspective. I wonder - is Brian stateside for Yule?
brian - November 27, 2006 9:32 AM
Brian will indeed be stateside for Yule... Perhaps even stateside within a week! Certainly can't miss Boxing Day!
Also, thanks for the comment on my blog. The Chaplain was an amazing man.
