Just for the record, I just was outside at the garbage bin at 7:30 pm in shorts and a t-shirt and it is 11°C or around 52°F. Makes one want to use the blink function. It all ends tomorrow and won't likely be back for about fourteen weeks...which is not bad for winter in Canada.

I am just heading out for my nightly run and I have no idea what to wear......... no hat, no gloves but jacket? damn non-winter..

Makes one want to use the blink function.
I think in this case, a marquee looks a lot more Web 2.0 like...
Compare:
<marquee>I just was outside at the garbage bin at 7:30 pm in shorts and a t-shirt and it is 11°C or around 52°F</marquee>
vs.
<span style="text-decoration: blink">I just was outside at the garbage bin at 7:30 pm in shorts and a t-shirt and it is 11°C or around 52°F</span>
(Warning works in FF, not in IE I think).

I admit it. I scooped your source code for the blink. But I had to as I think, of the cheesy tricks, marquee is the big brush for bold statements while blink is useful for the delicate strokes where subtlety is called for.

I don't think I've ever seen the words "blink" and "subtlety" in the same sentence before, Alan.

Perhaps that is because you have not considered the other side of blink, the unvoiced release of the soul that it provides.

That said: The ultimate Web 3.0 is a styled marquee...
<marquee style="text-decoration: blink; color: red; background-image:url('http://genx40.com/images/2004/laker5.JPG'); border-style:inset;">Brilliant</marquee>
Now we need only David to make us the round corners and we're set!

Which is the "other" side of the blink? The one where it's on or off? ;-)

<i>"I just was outside at the garbage bin at 7:30 pm in shorts and a t-shirt."</i>
Are you sure you weren't just showing off for the neighbors?

I'm feeling 'ya, Al. I'll stop wearing shorts and t-shrts when my legs turn powder blue walking outside (which could be Friday looking at the forecast. High of 30F and lows in the upper teens.).

OK, I'm going to try to save this thread from the Italics</i> mess someone else made...

You have our weather...I want it back. If you don't give it back I'll....
<span style="text-decoration: blink"><font size='4' color="red">Blink in Really big Red Letters</font></span>
(Dear Lord that is irritating...delete when the joke is stale - 15 seconds should pretty much do it.)
Arthur - December 1, 2006 8:50 am
I predict a great future for blogs that carry marquees and 'blinks'...

We are working hard for a better Web 3.0.
