We drove "The Loop" yesterday. This is what it has been described to my as by guys I work with, more venerable Kingstonians. You get the Wolfe Island Ferry, look at Fort Henry from the water, drive the 11 km across Wolfe Island, take the Horne Ferry, land at Cape Vincent NY, head 14 miles up the St. Lawrence to check out Clayton, another 11 miles to an early supper at Alexandria Bay, back over the Thousand Island Bridge, a run up the Thousand Island Parkway to Gananoque and then back along #2 back into Kingston.
After meeting chit-chatty friends of friends unexpectly on the ferry, our visitor with the EU passport had to get the six-buck 90-day US visa with gave opportunity to watch as a biometrics taking was taken. Very nice and polite US Homeland Security, St. Lawrence County Division is, by the way. The Thousand Island NY shore is not unlike Maritime Canadian tourist towns in that things are "opening for the season" right now. Sadly, the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton was one week from opening but we were allowed to wander about the bit by the main door. An amazing collection. We're probably going to go back to hit family day but I really mean to make race day this August. The posters alone are seduction enough. Maybe it will be a GX40 Rewards Program outing...hmmm.
Best of all was the dash during a downpour into the Rivers Edge Resort in A' Bay. A wedding booking in the main restaurant placed us in the cocktail lounge where a two person act led us through an hour of happy hour 50s, 60s and 70s hits. I braced but then noticed it was really well done. Then I noticed the TV was running the Denny's pro bowling tour skills trick shots event. I braced again but then noticed it, too, was really well done. Burgers all around with Sackets Harbor 1812 ale for me and the EU passport holder. Unexpectedly magic-y bits throughout.

A properly made ukulele is an amasing thing. We have three thuddy learners ones. That one seems to be metal bodied as well adding to the brightness of the tone like a National guitar. Probably also helps that the gent playing it is 3 foot 9 but what skill.
